Watermelon diet

The watermelon diet, as the name implies, is based on eating the pulp of this juicy berry. Watermelon pulp contains a large amount of fructose, vegetable fiber, natural protein, a whole complex of vitamins, folic acid, magnesium salts, compounds of potassium and iron, manganese and nickel, phosphorus, useful alkalis – and all this takes only 10% of the pulp, and everything else – This is water.

Watermelon is a low-calorie food product. It is this property of the watermelon pulp that served as the basis for the watermelon diet. Fiber, which is part of the watermelon pulp, normalizes the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, promotes good digestion, and reduces the concentration of cholesterol in the blood. In addition, the pulp of watermelon has a pronounced diuretic property, in other words, it cleanses the body of all harmful toxins and toxins.

Watermelon has the ability to alkalize other foods. The fact is that by eating certain foods, for example, meat and fish, baked goods and cereals, a person creates an acidic environment in his stomach. And alkalizing foods, which include milk and dairy products, create an alkaline environment in the stomach. So alkalizing products, as a rule, are always in short supply in the body. A high concentration of acid negatively affects the digestion process and reduces immunity.

The essence of the watermelon diet

The watermelon diet is that for five days you can eat only watermelon pulp – 1 kilogram of pulp per 10 kilograms of weight daily. The entire volume can be divided into several meals. If you do not have enough strength to adhere to such strict rules, then it is allowed to eat several slices of rye bread daily.

After five days, the watermelon is “supported” by other useful products: For breakfast and lunch, you can eat cereals in water without sugar and oil, lean boiled meat or fish, fresh vegetable salads seasoned with olive oil. For dinner, you can only eat watermelon, but as much as you like. This food scheme should continue for another week. The watermelon diet makes it possible to lose up to seven kilograms of weight.

A milder version of the watermelon diet is that you need to eat about two kilograms of watermelon pulp every day an hour and a half before meals.

Pros of the watermelon diet

The watermelon diet, as a rule, is tolerated without a feeling of unquenchable hunger, weight loss occurs due to the fact that the watermelon drives excess fluid from the body, and with it part of the fat deposits.

Losing a lot of weight and at the same time following a healthy diet can be done in a relatively short time. The watermelon diet has a beneficial effect not only on the functioning of the internal systems, but also on the condition of the skin, which, as a rule, is often fluid deficient.

Who is contraindicated in the watermelon diet

If a person has urolithiasis, then a watermelon diet is not suitable for him, since frequent urination provokes the release of stones from the kidneys, as a result of which stones can get stuck in the ureter and cause renal colic.

Another contraindication of a watermelon diet is diabetes mellitus, since the pulp of a watermelon contains a large amount of fructose – fruit sugar.

Patients with gastrointestinal tract problems, with adhesions after surgery, with prostatitis, with pyelonephritis, should be very attentive to the watermelon diet.

The watermelon diet is the best fit for getting rid of excess fluid collected in the body in a short time, and for losing weight. The main thing to remember is that after a watermelon diet, you need to monitor your diet, since the entire effect of this diet will simply come to naught.
