Psoriasis (Greek for painful skin, scabs) is a chronic skin disease, widespread since ancient times, which is characterized by flaky skin formations in the form of rounded plaques. A diet for people suffering from this disease, namely a special psoriasis diet, It is designed to regulate the alkaline acid balance in the human body. It should be remembered that in percentage terms, alkaline reactions in psoriasis should be much larger (70%) than acidic (30%). This state of affairs directly depends on both the foods consumed and the general state of human health, the normal functioning of all internal organs, and the positive emotional background of a person. But the main thing is not to forget that the daily diet should contain at least about 80% of the products that lead to the formation of alkali.
There are no special diets for people with skin rashes, but there is an opportunity to generalize the experience of numerous patients, on the basis of which several basic “theses” can be distinguished. As stated earlier, psoriasis diet includes the use of two main types of foods. Consider them.
Firstly, these are vegetables. You need to eat more: asparagus, beets, olives, zucchini and garlic. Use in small doses – cabbage, beans, pumpkin. Exclude altogether: potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes. Particular preference is given to fresh or freshly frozen vegetables, canned foods are occasionally permitted.
Secondly, fruits. For psoriasis, it is recommended to use: citrus fruits, bananas, melons, apples and their juices, mangoes, papaya, nectarine, raisins, prunes and peaches. You can not: berries, plums, avocados, a mixture of citrus juices with products containing milk.
In addition, you can increase the alkali content in the body using the following products:
Grape juice, apricot, pineapple, pear and apple
Stewed or fresh vegetables, fruits
Supplement to food or drink lecithin
· Regular physical exercises and physical activity
· A mood for positive and lack of negative emotions
Drinking alkaline min. water (“Essentuki”, “Borjomi”)
Food products that contribute to the formation of an acidic environment in the gastrointestinal tract include substances with a high content of protein, starch, sugar, fats (meat products, cheese, legumes, sugar). The combination of these products in large quantities creates the formation of acid in the body, which leads to a worsening of the condition of patients with psoriasis.
With any psoriasis diet, you must try to exclude the following combinations of products and individual foods:
· Combining in one dish or in a single meal starch and sweets, protein and legumes, meat or fatty foods with sucrose
· Any products with dyes, synthetic additives or GMOs
· Products containing alcohol
· Abuse and unsystematic use of drugs
· Negative emotional state
It should also be remembered that with psoriasis it is impossible to combine whole-grain foods (cereals, bread products) with juice, fresh fruits or cooked fruits and vegetables, do not combine juices or citrus fruits with milk, cheese or yogurt, do not combine fresh apples, watermelons melons. In addition, it is strongly recommended not to add cream or milk to hot drinks (tea, coffee), from alcohol you can occasionally drink about 60-110 grams of white or red wine, with exacerbations, you should temporarily stop using salt and its substitutes. But the most important thing to remember is that the main enemy of the treatment of psoriasis is overeating.
Psoriasis is considered one of the oldest known diseases to humans. But for thousands of years, science has still not identified a common opinion about the causes and course of psoriasis. Of course, one thing – the dietary factor can significantly help in controlling the development of psoriasis. It should be remembered that the organization of dietary nutrition for people suffering from psoriasis should be strictly individual, taking into account all the signs of the disease, associated pathologies, allergic reactions and pest products.
